Wildlife Rescue of Central Texas is currently working on construction for our wildlife rehabilitation facility in Bastrop, TX. We will be leasing 2 acres from Lost Pines Animal Alliance which will house a building for wildlife care and outdoor enclosures to accommodate wild animals preparing for release back to the wild. Once the facility is completed, WRCT will apply for state and federal wildlife rehabilitation permits before opening to the public for wildlife care.

Wildlife Center of Texas in Houston took in over 1,000 animals in just two days following Hurricane Beryl. The center lost power and water and was struggling to care for all the orphaned and injured animals, so of course we wanted to help! Our Board President met one of their volunteers halfway between Austin and Houston to take some of their animals. We picked up 40 opossums who were ready for release, and released them at one of our designated release sites away from the flooding. We also took in 30 baby opossums and 40 baby doves and will care for them until they are ready for release. Wildlife rehab is a team effort and we were so happy to help our Houston neighbors!
